A tropical storm named Cristobal has been formed in the southern Gulf of Mexico. A heavy flood threat has been announced for Mexico. Earlier in the year 2016, a tropical storm named Colin formed in the Gulf. It was formed from the miscellanies of the recent Tropical Storm Amanda.

World Pneumonia Day is observed every year on 12 November. The day was established by the Stop Pneumonia Initiative in 2009 to raise awareness about the disease.

NASA has successfully launched its Mars rover named ‘Perseverance’ from Cape Canaveral Florida on a United Launch Alliances Atlas V rocket. The vehicle with the size of a large car is also accompanied by a helicopter called Ingenuity which will study Mars’s atmosphere. It will drill into Mars and collect geological specimens. The rover is expected to land at the base of a crater called Jezero on February 18, 2021.

On April 23, 2020, Lebanon became the first Arab country to legalize marijuana cultivation for medical and industrial purposes. This has been done by the Lebanese Parliament in order to boost the export of marijuana. Marijuana is a psychoactive drug from the Cannabis plant used primarily for medical or recreational purposes.

Finland’s new prime minister is sworn into office on Tuesday, 34-year-old Sanna Marin becomes the youngest sitting leader in the world, the youngest prime minister in Finland’s history and only its third ever female premier.
