First in Pakistan

Pakistan’s first nuclear power plant, KANUPP Unit 1 (Karachi Nuclear Power Plant), was established in 1972. Located near Karachi, it had a capacity of 137 MW and was built with Canadian assistance. This marked Pakistan as the first Islamic country to operate a nuclear power facility.
