7 January 2022 A deadly snowstorm occurred in Murree, Pakistan on January 7, 2022, killing 23 domestic tourists who had visited to see the thick snow. The snowstorm caused heavy snowfall and blocked roads, trapping people in their vehicles. The temperature in Murree dropped to minus 8 degrees Celsius, and many people died of hypothermia. Some people also died of carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of running their car heaters while the mufflers were clogged with snow.
