International Awards, Honours & Prizes

There have been several years throughout the Nobel Prize’s history where no awards were given in any category. The most notable gaps were: 1940-1942: During World War II, due to the German occupation of Norway, where the Nobel Committee is based. 1916, 1931, 1934: Individual years where the committees deemed no worthy candidates existed in specific categories.

The Nobel awards in literature, medicine, physics, chemistry, peace, and economics are given in Stockholm, Sweden. The Peace prize is awarded in Oslo, Norway.
