Mughal Empire

Jama Masjid Delhi was built by Shah Jahan. It is one of the largest mosques in India and is located in the heart of Old Delhi. The mosque was built in the 17th century and is a beautiful example of Mughal architecture. It is a popular tourist destination and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Abdur Rahim Khan-e-Khana was the most famous court poet of Akbar. He was born in 1556 in Delhi, India, and died in 1627 in Agra, India. He was a member of the Mughal court and was one of the nine jewels (Navratnas) of Akbar’s court. He was a poet, statesman, and soldier. He was known for his Hindustani dohe (couplets) and his books on astrology.

The real name of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan was Shahab ud-Din Muhammad. He was born on January 5, 1592, in Lahore, Pakistan. He was the third son of Mughal emperor Jahangir and his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Shah Jahan ascended to the throne in 1628 and ruled for 30 years. He is best known for his patronage of the arts and architecture, and for building the Taj Mahal, a mausoleum for his wife. Shah Jahan was overthrown by his son, Aurangzeb, in 1658 and imprisoned in the Agra Fort until his death in 1666.
