The Battle of al-Qadisiyyah in Iraq was fought in 636 which resulted in Muslim victory. It was between the Muslim army and the Sassanid Persian army. The battle was fought under Caliph Umar, who had appointed Abu Ubaidah ibn Jarrah commander of the army. Three months before Qadisiyyah the battle of Yarmouk took place which was also a victory for the Muslims. The battle of Yarmouk was agasint the Byzantines.
