Sir Syed Ahmad Khan Sir Syed Ahmad Khan analyzed the causes of the uprising of 1857 and advocated a reconciliation between the British and the Muslims. He believed that the uprising was a result of a number of factors, including the misrule of the East India Company, the religious and cultural differences between the British and the Muslims, and the lack of education among the Muslims. He argued that the only way to prevent future uprisings was to improve the education of the Muslims and to build bridges between the two communities.
