The first Hindu Lieutenant Colonel in the Pakistan Army is Kelash Kumar. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in February 2023. Kumar is a medical doctor and has been serving in the Pakistan Army for over 20 years. He is a native of Tharparkar, Sindh, Pakistan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Moscow on February 23, 2022 for a two-day official visit. He was accompanied by a delegation of federal ministers, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Asad Umar, and Hammad Azhar.

The first woman to be appointed as an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is Ayesha Gul. She was appointed to the post on February 22, 2022. Gul is a 22-year veteran of the KP police force and has served in a variety of roles, including as the district police officer of Swabi and as the deputy inspector general of police (DIG) for the Hazara region.

Senior PPP leader and former senator Rehman Malik passed away on February 23, 2023. He was 70 years old. Malik was a close confidant of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, and he played a key role in the investigation into her assassination. He was also the interior minister of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013.

Sardar Kalyan Singh Kalyan, a 42-year-old Sikh from Punjab, Pakistan, is the first Sikh citizen of Pakistan to receive a PhD degree. He obtained his PhD degree in Punjabi Language and Literature from the University of the Punjab in Lahore, Pakistan in February 2022. His dissertation was titled “The Philosophy of Humanity in Guru Nanak’s Teachings.”

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates visited Pakistan on February 17, 2022. This was his first-ever visit to the country. Gates met with Prime Minister Imran Khan and discussed the country’s polio eradication efforts. He also visited the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) and the 1166 Helpline.

On February 17, 2022, Pakistan awarded the Hilal-e-Pakistan to Bill Gates for his public health services. The Hilal-e-Pakistan is the second-highest civilian award in Pakistan.

Karachi Askari Park has been renamed as Kashmir Park. The name change was announced by Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab on February 6, 2022. Wahab said that the name change was in solidarity with the people of Kashmir, who are struggling for their right to self-determination.

Dr. Sara Gill is Pakistan’s first transgender doctor. She graduated from Jinnah Medical and Dental College in Karachi in January 2021. She is also a transgender rights activist and founder of the non-profit Gender Interactive Alliance.

Supreme Court Justice Umar Ata Bandial will take oath as Pakistan’s 28th chief justice on February 2, replacing incumbent CJP Justice Gulzar Ahmed. The change will take place on the principle of seniority in which the puisne judge becomes the chief justice. Justice Bandial will continue as the chief justice till his retirement on September 18, 2023, and will hold the position for some 19 months.
