The UN  highlighted how a number of developing countries, including Indonesia, Pakistan, Kenya, Brazil, and Jamaica had performed “above expectation” on the innovation index relative to their level of economic development. China (11), India (40), Iran (53), Sri Lanka (85), Pakistan (87), and Bangladesh (102) jumped up in the rankings this year. However, only Pakistan has steadily gained a position over time.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo inaugurated the newly constructed Mehrgarh Museum in the provincial capital on September 28, 2022, vowing that the government would ensure all the historical sites are preserved. Speaking after the inauguration, he said the ancient site of Mehrgarh was considered one of the oldest civilizations in the world and highlighted the lifestyle of Balochistan.

Humanitarian, activist, and Hollywood star Angelina Jolie arrived in Pakistan on 20 September 2022 afternoon to support and directly speak to families affected by floods. Jolie is currently in Dadu, Sindh where she is visiting to survey the damage caused by the floods. According to a press release issued by the International Rescue Committee, Jolie has arrived to witness and understand the situation and to hear from people about their needs and steps to prevent such suffering in the future.

Sindh won the 2022 National T20 Cup, defeating Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by eight wickets in the final. This was Sindh’s first National T20 Cup title.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif represented Pakistan at the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in London on September 19, 2022. The Queen was the longest-reigning British monarch and the head of the Commonwealth. She died on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96.

The England cricket team returned to Pakistan after 17 years in September 2022 to play a seven-match T20I series. The tour was seen as a major boost for Pakistan cricket, which had been forced to play its home matches in the United Arab Emirates since 2009 due to security concerns.

Pakistan won the inaugural Over 60 World Cup in Australia in 2022. They defeated New Zealand in the final by seven wickets. The tournament was played between 11 and 17 September 2022 and featured 10 teams from around the world.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived in Pakistan on September 9, 2022, on a two-day visit to express his solidarity with the country over the devastating floods that have killed more than 1,300 people and displaced millions.

Ayesha Zehri became the first female deputy commissioner of Balochistan in 2023. She was appointed to the position of Deputy Commissioner of Nasirabad district. Zehri is a graduate of the University of Balochistan and has a master’s degree in political science. She has also served as the Assistant Commissioner of Gwadar district.

According to official data, the number of affected districts by floods in Pakistan now stands at 110. This includes 34 in Balochistan, 33 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16 in Sindh and the rest in Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
